From dentures to fixed teeth
Many of the Arlington Heights patients we see have worn a denture for years, or are facing one now. A denture rests on the gums. It can move when you talk or eat, the upper one covers your palate, and the jawbone underneath slowly shrinks. Full-arch implants are a different experience: a complete set of teeth screwed onto 4–6 implants. It doesn't come out, and nothing covers the roof of your mouth. (Dentures vs. full mouth implants: an honest comparison.)
Gum line or no gum line?
Two bridge designs are possible, and the right one depends on your bone, your gums and your smile line:
- FP3: the bridge replaces lost gum as well as teeth, restoring lip support. It's the right choice for most long-time denture wearers.
- FP1, the Advani A6™: teeth that appear to come straight out of your own gums, with no pink material. This works best when you still have your own teeth, even failing ones.
A 3D CT scan at your consultation shows which design fits. Both are made in zirconia and backed by a 10-year warranty.

Common questions
Can I get implants if I've worn a denture for years?
Usually, yes. Long-term denture wear shrinks the bone, but a 3D CT scan shows what's left, and techniques like pterygoid or zygomatic implants can often avoid grafting. Long-time denture wearers are usually best served by an FP3 bridge, which restores lost gum and lip support.
How far is the office from Arlington Heights?
Usually about 15–20 minutes by car, at 800 Biesterfield Rd in Elk Grove Village on the Ascension Alexian Brothers Medical Center campus.
Will I be without teeth during treatment?
For most patients, no. A fixed temporary bridge is attached the same day as surgery, and your final zirconia bridge follows after about 3–4 months of healing.
